Lipstick plant is a beautiful flowering indoor plant prized for its shiny foliage and interesting flowers. It gets its name because the flower buds peek out of dark-colored tubes, looking like a miniature tube of lipstick.
Plant Care tips
- Lighting: This plant thrives in moderate to bright indirect sunlight.
- Temperature: Ideally, it should be placed in the temperature range of 70° F to 85° F.
- Fertilizing: Feed every other week in the spring and summer, and monthly in the fall and winter with a houseplant food high in phosphorous.
Watering: These plants flower more frequently and more abundantly if you allow the top 25% of the soil dry out before watering. If the leaves of a lipstick plant appear soft and shriveled, give the plant more water. These plants lose green leaves when they are over-watered.
